Possible FIRE BLIGHT in young pear tree

I am turning into that paranoid tree farmer...a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to my new babies (2 apple and 2 pear trees just planted this spring)!

Please take a look at these pictures and tell me what you think. This tree is a Summercrisp Pear which is supposedly resistant to fire blight. I don't know what to make of the spotting on the leaves, the turning over of them like a shepherds hook, and the way some of them look charred. It isn't quite like any fire blight pictures I see online when I look, but maybe this is just the early stages...?

Regardless of whether you think its fire blight or not, what type of spray/treatment should I do with newly planted fruit trees in zone 4a?

Thanks!
~Andrew

Hi, Can't tell much from the pictures, but for a start: to me it looks like too much water. Just reread your post, Newly planted, could also be more sun than it was used to. I wouldn't spray anything on it until I was sure what the problem is.

Can you say for sure it isn't one of the two mentioned? Nice looking lawn.

Richard - it could be too much water, as we are finding out.

There is a drainage problem on that side of the house, and water tends to collect in an area near the tree, so it is probably also getting too much of that water. I need to solve the drainage problem, either put some gutters on that side or create an area for it to runoff and not collect near the tree. It is doing a bit better now, we cut off the dead areas. Thanks, the lawn is doing well with all the rain we have been getting!
