Peach Tree Sprouting Limbs on One Side

Hello folks -

I have an Elberta peach tree that's growing very well.. on one side! The limbless side is to the west, but the entire tree is in very good sunlight.

I had it tied off to help it grow straight. I'll admit that the knots were a bit tight, but an Elberta right next to it had the same set-up and is growing just fine. I did loosen the knots up, as you can tell by the picture, about a week ago.

I've never seen a tree growing limbs on only one side, and haven't been able to find anything via Google. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

My only suggestion Matt is to tie the growing branch into as upright a position as is possible without breaking it, and then turning it into the main leader of the tree.
You will always have a large 'kink' in the trunk of the tree....but it should work.

Ah.. perfect for that very top branch! Thanks! What about grafting another branch to the side that's lacking?

That would work too but it would take a long time to catch up.
good luck.
