What type of strawberries should we plant?

We are wanting to plant some strawberries this year and don't know what type to plant. We are in the growing zone 8b. Any suggestions? Also does anybody know how many lbs of strawberries you can expect to get off of each plant per growing season? :D

I would plant 1/2 ever barer and 1/2 june barer. They like acid soil so add pine needles if you have a pine tree near by! Just scrape up the ground below the old pine tree! We usually get a dozen berries per plant in a good year !

I realise that this is a picture of straws growing in a glasshouse in raised growbags....but the principle is still the same.
Good quality plants...grown in good soil and proper feeding, will give huge crops.
Please note....growers do not allow their plants to produce runners. It's cheaper and better commercial sense to buy virus free plants to re-stock and let the plants put all their energy into fruit production.
