Squirrels & a peach tree

I can't decide if I should plant a peach tree or not because even though I like peaches, I hate the way they drop fruit all over the ground for me to step on. It makes the ground icky and gross.

If I encouraged squirrels to live in my yard, would they eat the peaches off the ground and keep it clean? Or would they just climb the tree and eat the fresher fruit up there?

Squirrels will only make the peach drops problem worse. You probably need goats or pigs if you want the fallen peaches eaten.
