Help identifying this fruit/vegetation(Green tentacle-like)?

My cousin and I found this while walking.
Not sure what it is... Most likely not fully grown so yeah.

Any ideas? :D

Someone told us it was a pepper of some sort or a Buddha's hand. Not sure though. Seems closer to a Buddha's hand than pepper.
(We live in South Texas if it helps identify it -- humid, warm/hot, temperate.)

It looks like a Buddha's hand. But I've only seen them come in yellow. I'm sure they're green before yellow though.

More information on Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis aka bushukan (in Japanese).
