Advice on pruning a vine

Hi,

I have a 7 year old vine in Ireland which has never been trained or properly cared for. I cut it back last autumn (without leaving a few shoots for this years growth).

I'd really appreciate some pruning advice.

As you can see from the photo, the vine has two main stems. Should I cut one of these out in Winter and if so any tips on which one to cut.

Should I nip out some of the new growth now?

I'm also planning to use some of next winter's pruning to start 4 or 5 new vines.

Many thanks for your help.

Rather than to try to reinvent the wheel, you might want to google a "Knifflen trellis and training.

Till it goes dormant I'd let her rip. In the winter leave yourself one or two (leaf) buds on each shortened arm.
