I bought 4 pecan trees on eBay. The trees arrived, bottom end of the roots have been cut off. Root section is the diameter of a pencil with a few hair like roots. Tree looks like a dead stick. It arrived wrapped in wet paper covered with plastic. I planted all 4 trees in pots with potting soil. I keep the plants in the shade and water them a little every day. Temperature here has been 85 to 95. It has been 3 weeks so far the trees still look dead. No signs of life at all. No buds getting ready to make leaves.

Seller says, Trees have been dormant for 6 months it takes time for them to come back to life.
