Watermelons(Louisiana)

I started 10 watermelon seeds they are almost 6-8inches tall very thick stalks and they look as if they are vining. When would be the best time too put them outside?? I live in louisiana, I do believe I heard the temp. is suppose to drop again, it doesnt stay cold long though.

According to my Zone 9 chart, watermelons can be planted in March/April and again in July/August.

Yeah, melons are the warmest of warm weather crops. The temperature that matters is the soil temperature, which does not vary as much as air temperature. Do not plant watermelons in the ground until the soil temperature is 70 degrees or above.
