Pineberry a mix of a pineapple and a strawberry?

My fiancé presented a picture of a "pineberry" to me, and informed me that it was a mix of a pineapple and a strawberry. It was a white strawberry, it looked beautiful, but it seems so unlikely. Is it real?

How was it "conceived"?

It's called that because it resembles the look of a pineapple. It's a strawberry cultivar that is white with red achenes.

I believe some farmers overseas found the plant material (a mutation perhaps?) and saved it, then started selecting and cultivating the plants.
