How to feed existing strawberry plants for next spring

Hi. I have been harvesting from a 10 X 10 strawberry patch the last two years. I started the patch with a good amount of compost and just a couple of plants. I weed it but only use fertilizer to feed it. The patch is now dense with plants. Every spring for about two or three weeks I can pick a quart bag of strawberries daily. How and what can I feed them over the next few months to help insure another bountiful and tasty harvest next spring?
I was considering carefully digging them up and adding compost, then replacing the healthiest plants.

I just toss compost on top of them before mulching -- usually with leaves and straw -- for the winter. :D

If you live in a temperate area like me where they never go dormant I would put as thick a layer of mulch down as possible.

What did you do last year - it sounds like they were happy this year?

Not much. Just added fertilizer in spring. They didn't do as well as the year before though - not as sweet and big, although they were numerous.

I would throw pine needles on them for compost since they like acic soil!
