Raspberries dying

I've had wild raspberries for 10 + years. They always bear fruit in early July. This summer over 90% of the plants have died. Nothing remains except bare stalks of brown, brittle stalks. Those plants that remain either have fruit buds that haven't matured, or no buds at all. The surrounding neighborhood streets have some fruit this week, but mostly dead bushes. I first noticed this before the heat wave started, so that can't be to blame.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what is happening or what I can do?

I'm in Southwestern Connecticut. Thanks.
