sugar baby watermelon in a small pot

Hi guys, my boyfriend accidently stepped on one of my sugar baby plantsand it basically ripped the roots appart. He told me that we cant save it but iwas curiousto see if it would survive, so I put it in a small pot (size of a 2 gallon bucket)a few weeks laterit out grew my other 2 sugar baby plant and it is doing really well. Its starting to grow a watemelon, I'm worried that the pot I'm using is to small and I'm afraid to tranplant it:( is there anything I can do to save it? Thanks!

I would keep it watered and hope for the best. A little food might not hurt either.
