Can you plant berry bushes in the summer?

Hello,

I live in northern Utah, in the Salt Lake City area, and it's pretty hot in the summer, 90 to 100 degrees Farenheit. I believe it's zone 6.

I was not able to plant in the spring, so I am wondering if it's wise for me to order and plant berry bushes now. I am home so I could water them throughout the day.

Here are links to the bushes I'm looking to get:

Black currant: https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=4005
Red currant: https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=3917
Gooseberry: https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=7060 and https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=6294
Raspberry: https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=6476
Blackberry: https://www.directgardening.com/detail.asp?ProductID=6151

I am also wondering what soil pH is necessary for those bushes.

Thank you very much for any advice you can provide. :D

If you have a local grower (or merchant) you could plant to feild with a lot of watering.

I would not expect an honest nursery would ship this late. USPS, Fed-Ex, or UPS will cook live plants this time of year.

agreed. I'd wait for cooler temps in the fall.

Thank you very much for your input! :D

Indeed, I forgot about the shipping! Fortunately, I found the same shrubs at my local nursery so I bought them there.

I know it would be wiser to wait to plant them in the fall, but I've been looking for red and black currant shrubs for 4 years, they seem to be kinda hard to find around here, so I bought them anyway.

I'm going to plant them in the evening when it's cooler, and use mulch to retain the water around the roots. Hopefully, it works and I get to have delicious berries every year! :D

keep your soil moist and just make sure it doesn''t dry out during peak sun hours.
