Champagne Currants

I have two champagne currant bushes that I have had zero luck with. For two years they have produced fruit - looking very promising and the next thing you know they are dried up and crusty looking.
They are planted on the north side of the house and they are well composted.

Can anyone give me an idea?

Hi Pitman.

Just a couple of ideas for your plants.

Was there any sign of some of the growing buds on your currant plants getting unusualy large?.
This would be sign of ' Big Bud virus ' its transmited by aphids and will cause wilt on badly infected plants.
The other query is regarding your composting.
There is always a danger with currants that they can be over supplied with nitrogen. This in itself does them no harm but there is a belief that it does open them up to be more susceptable to desease problems.
