Poor strawberry crop

Our strawberries haven't produced very well the last couple of years, they are june berries and I move them every three years, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi GD.
You say that you have moved them every three years....do you mean you have replaced them with new plants or have you just moved the runners and plants from your old bed?
The great problem with straws is that over a few years they can accumulate a considerable amount of viruses.
Most of these are not exactly killers but they do affect the performance of the plants quite considerably.
That is why most strawberry breeders and producers grow on virgin sites that have been tested to be virus free. So it pays to replace your plants every few years with fresh stock, especially if the cropping levels of your plants are getting poorer.
