When I baught the plant, I noticed the weird growth on the crown & removed it. Now I realise it was Crown Gall. Is it possible to cure it? Should I rather keep it in a pot on the other side of the yard or what?

Burn it. Keep it clear of any of your garden soils.
It is a bacterial problem and only good hygene will fight it.
Never plant on a site were it is present and never buy infected plants.
