Possibly dead dwarf pomegranate

I have a dwarf pomegranate I tried to hibernate. It was an incredibly hot winter so I don't know if it might of died. How can I tell thats it is dead?

first thought - they leaf pretty late, so I'd probably just wait. everything else here is leafed out, but there are two things that are just starting - the pomegranate being one of them. (and we're south of you)..

or scratch the bark with a fingernail - if there's green under there, just wait it out. brown or grey, it's dead.

Thanks for the information. It's kind of sad when you cant tell if something is living or not... Well I guess every coming year and every new plant I attempt will bring new knowledge. I will do some scratching tomorrow
