Is it possible to grow persimmon tree in Boston MA area?

Hi, I was told I should be able to grow a healthy japanese persimmion tree in the Boston area. I had tried 2 persimmon trees already in the past 2 years, one Fuyu and another Jiro, but none of them seem to be able to survive the winter here. So I was wondering, is it even possible? And if so, can someone tell me which one I should get and try again? Thanks.

The American persimmon trees are considerably more cold hardy than the Asian ones. It looks like you are in zond 6A, same as me, so you shouldn't have any trouble growing American persimmon. As a native tree, it will be better adapted to the surroundings there anyway.

Hi

I just wanted to say, thank you rainbowgardener. I took your advice and got a American Persimmon but hahahahaha... I guess Jiro persimmons are late bloomers. I checked the tree this morning and the buds that I thought are dead and dried out are turning green.

Now I know for next year when to see the tree to bud
