Ant control on peach tree

My young peach tree only gave me one peach last summer. But judging by a friend's tree that is the same kind and came from the same place, I should be loaded down with 'em this year.

The one peach I got last year had been gotten into by ants. They entered holes in the skin and were everywhere inside the peach. How can I prevent this? Is there something I can put around the trunk so they can't crawl up the tree? Organic/ natural solutions are best, but I'll listen to any ideas.

PUt a stip of paper around the trunk and smear some tanglefoot on it. They can't get by it.
