avocado shoots?

I got the soft newer branches from an avocado tree, I'm not sure if they would be called shoots, but my thought is that I've seen people get those and grow a new tree out of that? Is it possible? Do I need to leave it on water for it to root? Or I found a pot with soil and full with water so looks like mud, should I leave em there? Any ideas or methods?

Hey Orozconleche!

I would reccoment putting them in a glass of water and letting them root and after they have established a root system then planting them into a pot and making sure they are well watered! I hope this helps!

Does that REALLY work with an AVOCADO tree green branch?
...a bit skeptical but willing to be mistaken.

it does work that is how some people get a pit to sprout and root.
