Mulching Strawberries

I imagine this has already been asked, but I am too lazy to search right now. It's time to mulch my strawberries so they survive the winter. I plan to just pour leaves on them, once I get some. How does that sound? And how thickly should I mulch them? We can have stretches of minus 20's up here. I don't think I've seen a minus 30 yet, though.

When I lived in NH, I laid on autumnal leaves till they poured off the bed, and weighted them down with some brush.

They never seemed to mind the mulch...

Thanks, Tom! That is what I will do then. Amazingly, without being covered at night, they are still alive and green a week after everything else died. I think I will wait until they go dormant. Man, they can really take the cold!
