the leaves look kinda persimmon-y, but the bark doesn't look right. when are the flowers, and what do they look like?

Also how old is the tree if you know and does it drop its leaves in the fall or hold on to most of them? I agree that the bark looks wrong for a persimmon. Are you sure it is a fruit tree and not an ornamental that blooms and what did the blossoms look like (color, size time of spring they came out etc.)

first, thank you for the reply. The flowers are small white bell shape but I have to take a picture next year for better illustration. I am sure it's a fruit tree for I order a lot of trees from gurneys and they are all fruit trees.

so this is something you ordered and planted? are those little teeth I see on the leaves, or a trick of pixellation?

Don't look teethed to me... do you know if you click on the pictures, they enlarge? You can see much better in the enlarged version.

the flowers look like them but they are white and not yellowish. they are like a quarter on an inch in length and then they fall. All the leaves fall on winter and the tree is like 5-6 years old. I have a persimmon planted near it around 30 feet away. thanks again folks for your kindness.

I was thinking Halesia but probably not if flowers are 1/4 inch. Halesia flowers are bigger....
