Will cantelopes and honeydews cross? I have my cantelopes and honeydews planted beside each other. My cantelopes are fine, but my honeydews are very small, about the size of a softball, and have a skin like cantelopes. they tase great, but I have never seen this before.

If you are not saving seed of OP mellons, then, no, they won't hybridize in this generation.

If you are saving seed of OP mellon and are not bagging blossoms, you will not get true-to-type seed for the next generation.

It sounds as though your seed-house seed is not the type as advertised.

If you are growing cucurbitacea (still can't spell Latin) from seed of your own saving without at least Sue Ashworths "Seed To Seed" at your elbow, you're a braver soul than me.
