Fruit/berry ID help? Also, kiwis

I bought some kiwis from the grocery store. You know, those fuzzy brown ones.

I'd like to try and grow them from seed.

I let them dry for a week, and then I put a few seeds in 5 plastic cups with some dirt and watered them.

Will they grow? I live in zone 7

Also I found a tree that grows these weird berries. I didn't have my camera with me and it was on private property so I just grabbed a handful and brought them home. I thought they might be mulberries but those look like blackberries. Then I thought it might be some sort of a cherry or plum.

I tasted it and it's extremely sour. They may just not be ripe. Most of the berries were green with spots of red.

They didn't grow in bunches like grapes, they didn't grow in clusters like bing cherries. 3 or 4 berries would grow from one section of a stem, then 3 or 4 more a few inches down, so on and so forth. Some were completely by themselves, several inches away from others.

I opened one and tried to find a seed but I couldn't find one, which means they must be not ripe yet. Here are some pics.

yeah, crabapples. some hawthorns have fruit a lot like that too, but the still-connected leaf looks pretty apple.

hi, thanks.

they're definitely crabapples. I bit into one and it was very sweet, then became sour, but not like lemon sour. then I was hit with a HORRIBLE bitter taste in my mouth and spit it out. Haha.

Only one of them had seeds in it so I assume they're not quite ripe

for the kiwi you want to grow a hardy kiwi not the kiwi from the store. there are many varieties that will handle very cold temps. the one from the store is a tropical fruit. don't be sad though, the other kiwi's are just as good if not better.
