Hello,

Ive stumbled upon many many of these bushes surrounding a trail. Am I right to say that these are wild raspberries? Some have a tiny bug or two crawling on them. Am I okay to just wash these off and eat them? Can I collect these, would it be safe? It's on a trail surrounding a pond which is the towns water supply, so I do not think they are sprayed with anything. Thanks

Looks like a Black Cap Raspberry. You may think about trying one and see how you feel, then eat more later.

When I opened your picture, I noticed this right away. Look at the middle of this berry. Who is that looking back.

I dug about a dozen wild ones out and have a nice berry patch now. I still pick the wild ones that are really nice also! They will bear for about a month then you will see black berries in mid july ripen! Soak them when you are ready to eat them other wise just store in ref. We just made a pie this past week and it was great!

Check that out! hah, I feel bad for eating little baby Jesus, but he was so delicious.

So is this positively identified as a wild Raspberry or is it not 100%? Thanks!

hard to say without the leaf and picture of the growth.

either way its in the raspberry family for sure.
