Hi all! You may remember me as the over-eager young gardener that took on too much at once and had to call it quits this year. WELL, I found a wild strawberry plant growing next to my back porch and I would LOVE to take care of it.
Here are some pics. I know I need to weed (I'll do that today) but I wanted some advice on how to take care of it. I've read on several sites the same basic information but I don't know what advice to take, lol. I live in Zone 7 and would like to pick strawberries for as long as possible before winter hits. What do I do?
Here's the actual plant: (Sorry it's sideways)

Here's a runner (I have about 4)

And here's a strawberry. I had no clue what this plant was until I saw this yesterday. I'm glad my mom told me she thought I had some kind of berry plant when she saw it during her visit earlier this month:

Thoughts? Comments? I have no idea what kind of strawberry this is.

the main plant in the first pic is a wild blackberry or similar, tall and with thorns, right?
there are a few related-to-strawberry cousins that produce fruits that look like strawberries, but with varying degrees of flavor. have you tried the fruit? you may have a totally-flavorless thing on your hands. that's the first step.
