I am an expat in Milano and have just taken a two year lease on somewhere with a terrace big enough for a container garden.
Along with some scented flowers and veg I was wondering if strawberries are a good bet - in one of those strawberry pots? I know next summer might not see them at their best but the summer after should be good and then I might be able to rehome them when I leave for their third season.
Does this sound like a good idea? In the Container gardening section here Franco suggestted melons too, which I hadn't thought of. Any other good ideas would be welcome.

Strawberries grow great in pots. I've never tried them in a strawberry pot but, I would think that it would work fine.
I would personally plant several strawberry plants in one large open container and this way, you can propagate the runners into a little strawberry patch in the container. Also, the plants will have more room to expand.
