Hi Inoo.
A first year straw plant is called a 'Maiden ' or 'Fresh Runner.'
It's fruit should be ready to pick roughly 60 days from flowering providing that the flowers have set and the plant is well looked after.
Most growers would crop their plants from three to five years. After this time the plants will be past their best and would be replaced either with fresh runners or the mother plants be allowed to produce their own runners.
To grow large plants you will have to remove all the side runners that your plants try to produce. Especially in the first year as your plants will use up a lot of their energy in trying to produce offspring.
Hope your plants do well.
