moving raspberry bushes
I planted a raspberry bush years ago by my front porch not knowing how big it would get. I would like to move it to another location. when is the best time to move these plants and is there any special instructions on replanting them? It is a summer bearing raspberry bush. Thanks for any suggestions.
Raspberry canes can be moved at any time once they have become dormant in the winter season.
Cut your bush down to a few inches from the ground and when you have lifted it you may find that you can devide the stool head and get a few more canes for your efforts.
By summer bearer I guess you mean that it fruits slowly all through the summer months on one year old cane. ( Primo-cane)
So the new cane that grows next spring will crop that year.
