I began growing pumpkins and watermelons in my garden for the first time this year, but have reached a bit of a problem. I didn't realize just *how* aggressive the vines are(), and now they are completely tangled and mixed with each other. () I have just recently began to see some fruit growing, but I can't tell if it's a pumpkin or a watermelon. Can anyone give some advice on how to tell when it's in its early stages, or should I just wait a few weeks and see what happens?

Watermelon leaves usually have deep clefts and rounded lobes making them look like hands with fingers, whereas pumpkin leaves tend to be more like oh I guess pointy maple leaves. I think watermelon fruits tend to be smooth and dark green while pumpkins tend to have ridges and are lighter in color and speckled.
