Banana Trees

Ok, new house, big yard, lots of strange stuff! I have identified a small group of what looks like banana trees but no fruit on any of them. They were really overgrown and had lots of dead limbs so we cleared them out.

Do they need any special care? We do not have a sprinkler system so will they need extra hose time? Also, why is there no fruit or even any signs of it? Is it not the right time of year?

For the fruit part I do know that it is probably not the time of year for it too fruit. But do you think you could post a pic. it will greatly help. If you don't know how go to photobucket and you can sign up for free and it is like a little server for pics. and then you can copy and paste the link here.
