Hi everyone,
I placed there here because the pineapple is bromeliad and part succulent. With that in mind, I am trying to grow a pineapple top from a grocery pineapple. Currently, I have the roots submerged in water, trying to "root" the crown so the roots get stronger.
I have left the scars heal for a few days before submerging, but sadly, the tops of the leaves are getting brown... and I don't know what to do. Do you think misting the leaves would help?
I'm just a bit worried has it's only been about a week....
(The only good news is when I tug on the inner leaves, they stay in place...)

My pineapples are only in their second year -- first year as independent pups, but I'll be happy to tell you more about what I did if you have specific questions.

Do you think I should just stop trying to root the crown and plant it? My issue is that it might die before the roots can grow like they should...

The proto-roots are already there. If you haven't peeled off the lower leaves until they're exposed, I recommend you do so. They just need a proper rooting medium to grow in. Personally, I would plant straight into a sandy potting soil mix as described in my other post. Keep humidity high especially if keeping indoors in A/C -- find the warmest location OUT OF DIRECT SUN.
My original two pineapple tops were rooted in winter time and were kept wrapped in ventilated plastic bag. I potted up a new pineapple top a few days ago. That one I'm keeping outside with my other tropicals vacationing in a noon shade location. The baby's pot is surrounded by all the others for extra protection and humidity.
