Our pumpkin plants seem to be doing ok but most of the little pumpkins are turning yellow before they barely get any size on them. Could anyone venture a guess as to why? We've had an above normal amount of rain. Could they be getting too much water? If that's the case, I guess I'm going to count my blessings for any pumpkins that we might get this year.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Could it be that they had not been pollinated? or they might have been attacked by fruit flies.BackerBunch wrote:Our pumpkin plants seem to be doing ok but most of the little pumpkins are turning yellow before they barely get any size on them. Thanks for the reply, oldleo. Because pumpkins are actually being formed I don't believe the problem is pollination. A few days ago, I discovered we have a whitefly problem but I haven't noticed any around the veggie garden....yet. This sounds weird but it looks like each plant is sacificing the 1st pumpkin and producing the next.
I just planted my first pumpkin plant a few months ago. I had the same problem at first but after I put up some fruit fly traps the pumpkins formed nicely like these.
