Can strawberies be covered with bird net?
I was wondering, if I cover strawberries and blueberries with bird net, would it allow bees in to fertilize the flowers? I know holes are big enough, but I don't know, if bees would want to crawl through?
For the Blueberries, I just wait to add the netting around them, after pollination is complete and the berries have started to form.Joyfirst wrote:I was wondering, if I cover strawberries and blueberries with bird net, would it allow bees in to fertilize the flowers? From what I have observed, the birds aren't interested in harvesting the berries until they are more mature (ripening).
But, I don't think the bees will mind the netting anyway. I like to be able to get in and around the bushes without the netting being in the way; that's why I wait to add it later.
