Mature Nectarine tree curling after cold

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I'm here because my mother wanted to figure out what is wrong with her nectarine tree. She has been growing the tree for a few years, from a seed, and in the last 3 years, it began to grow some pretty awesome nectarines. This year, it sprouted a lot of flowers, as it does every year, but all of a sudden we had a cold snap in the weather, that is we got a blizzard in May (Michigan), and all the leaves started curling and those that didn't, curl automatically when they are touched. I did read a couple other post about curling and that you're suppose to take the leaves off. Is this right? What should we do to save our tree? Will is still sprout fruits this year, or are we done for the year?

Sorry guys, I know nothing about fruit, any help would be appreciated.
