Amelanchier (think apple) fruits covered in orange liquid

I have a Serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis or maybe arborea) -- which are member of the Apple family -- that I planted next to a volunteer Crabapple (maybe unwisely). It has shed its petals and is developing fruits. Today, I noticed that some of the fruits are covered with tiny yellow-orange bumps that at first I thought were aphids. But when I rubbed the bumps, I was left with runny orange liquid on my fingers.

Could this be Cedar-Apple Rust? I'm not used to seeing it appear on the fruits without the tell-tale orange spots on the leaves. Also, the bumps were not the usual elongated filamen-nodules that I'm used to seeing. It was getting dark so I didn't even get to pick off the fruits, but did spray with modified 10% Milk Solution (some whole milk, failed cultured skim milk, and homebrew EM-A diluted with de-chlorinated water). However, I do want to do a full inspection and removal of affected fruits tomorrow.

As far as I could tell, the Crabapple, which is also fruiting, was not affected.

I'd say this is definitely Cedar-Apple Rust. The bumps have grown out into the familiar nodules. Here are some photos of the affected fruits and fruit stems (see how it deforms the stem? and the affected fruits are 3~4 times larger than unaffected fruits) as well as the bright orange spores that came off the nodules as the cut off fruits hit the sides and bottom of the plastic bag:

I sprayed with concentrated (40~50% with yogurt added) Milk Solution after removing all affected fruits, stems, and leaves with sign of discoloration.
