Re-grow established lemon tree

Hi!
We moved into our home about four years ago, the property came with an established orchard. There was a beautiful lemon tree continiously bearing the most delicious fruit.
Unfortunately duo to neglect we did not prune the tree as it should have been done. The weight of the fruit caused the major branches of the tree to tear off. Would any body be able to give any suggestions as to what can be done to save this wonderful tree, would be appreciated!! javascript:emoticon(':(')
