Avocado no fruit

Hi there. I am new to this website and new to gardening. Unfortunately, I don't think Ill be helping anyone with solutions too much.

Anyway, I moved to a new property last year, and my wife and I only yesterday managed to get around and have a look at what kind of trees we have here. Many citrus trees, olives and others seem ok, however we have an avocado tree that is about 3m tall, and doesnt appear to have any fruit. Neither of us can recall it having such either.

It does have many of these 1 inch long things that appear to be seeds.

Can anyone kindly advise what may be the problem?

Id post pics if I could work out how

many thanks

Welcome to the Helpful Gardener! I'd be interested in seeing the pictures of your tree. :)

"1 inch long things" doesn't sound like part of an avocado tree :?: Photos would definitely help.

thanks very much for the pic info. Perhaps this is not an avocado tree? The people before us left a map with what plants where were, and in this vacinity was an avocado tree....so we just assumed.

Here are the pics

Photobucket certainly down sizes the images, please let me know if they are too small to tell anything.

many thanks for help.

Next time, click inside the box labeled "image code" on the Photobucket site and copy and paste that in your post, then the picture will show up right here.

It should look like this:

Code: Select all

and will show up like this:

Anyway, definitely NOT avocado, but I've no idea what that is. Maybe more of an Australian or South Pacific native plant? Hope someone else can ID it. So what you said was those flat "fruits" are about 1 inch long, right? And the leaves look kind of leathery and thick?
