Loquats: grafting, seedlings, rooting

I have found lots of articles on grafting loquats, but I don't really understand them. Any of you ever tried this? Do I understand correctly that trees grown from seed don't bear fruit? But you use the seedling to graft another piece of loquat onto? Anyone ever tried rooting loquat? I heard it is hard to get it to root. Any suggestions? Thanks.

found this:

"Loquat trees are easy to grow from seed. Seedling trees are satisfactory for ornamental use, but may bear inferior fruit. Superior varieties do not become true from seed, so it is necessary to plant vegetatively propagated trees. Successful methods of propagation in Florida include shield budding and side veneer grafting. Loquat seedlings are used as rootstocks. Grafted trees will bear fruit in 2 - 3 years, while a seedling tree will take 5 - 6 years."

(From the University of Florida edis website)

looks like seedlings can produce fruit, it'll just be a crapshoot as far as quality. I've got a seedling myself, but can't tell you anything about rooting/grafting, haven't done those with loquat.
