Fig tree pests

I have recently moved into a house in Queensland Australia which has several fruit trees growing in the back garden. One of these is a fig tree which had lots of leaves on it and fruit initially. Now all of the leaves have turned brown and looked like they had been eaten. I inspected a little closer and found little brown beetles which I think are fig tree leaf bettles. Does anybody know the best way to control these pests? I have tried Rogor and white oil but they still seem to be coming back! I have a few citrus trees next to the fig tree and I am worried that they will be hit next.
