Growing a grape vine in sandy soil
Initial growth on my vines was good but the leaves have now started to turn brown and drop, even though new growth is good. I am in very warm Abu Dhabi with very sandy soil, do I stand a chance with this? what should I feed with?

I live on the top of a dry sandy hill that is quite hot during the summer. I struggled with European grapes for many years before finally giving up. Since that time my gardening philosophy has changed. Constant fighting a head wind is not fun. So now much more attention is given to selecting plants and varieties that are suited to my location. That strategy IMO will lead to much greater success and satisfaction.
So in your situation, I would consider planting a few more demanding plants in planters with drip irrigation but for in the ground culture would select plants that are drought resistant and which tolerate poor sandy soil.
