I live in Lake Elmore [Vermont] and just found a new plant growing on the side of my barn. Our soil is pretty moist as we have a large pond about 20'-30' from the barn. The plant is very similar to a melon plant with tendrals [sp?] and small flowers. The 'fruit' of the plant is quite interesting though. They are currently small and getting larger in size, the green shades similar to a watermelon but with spikes all around the body of the fruit. When you touch the spikes they are rubbery. You can roll the fruit between your palms with no problem. Not sharp thorns.
WHAT IS IT?? DOES ANYONE KNOW??
quite curious.
I'll post a photo in a few days.
thanks for any leads.
