Hi Herb
Stone lantern is rough, crude, con't see any craftmanship...... I think.
I am thinking myself that Should I to be good diplomatic or being honst and expres me honest opinion ?

In Buddhism teach , one of ten precepts say " not say bad word". also in "sakuteiki" which is world oldest gardeing book admonish not make any critizim about garden. But also teachs not lie.
Pruning of pine tree(Verginia Pine? ) quality of wood fence , bamboo fence, how to set stonea are not meet our standard. It may meet the local standard however.
I much rather to see your stone lantern. :) I made copy of your stone lanten years ago from gardenweb/Japanese garden/forum.
Yours is much better.

Hi
The lantern has good proportion. You should keep the record , how you made it. Someday you may want to make second stone lantern.

Thanks for your photo. I am going back to Japan soon. After I settled in, I will post photos of near by temple's gardens.
