Hello All, I am new to this forum and am a very inexperienced gardener.
I want to transplant an Acer Palmatum Orange Dream from a raised bed into a pot. I understand that the perfect soil would be a sandy loam. How do I create this soil from scratch?
Thank You.

Hi Duncan,
As a guideline for bonsai, smaller and larger ones, the soil I use as a standard mixture is 1/3 potting-soil, 1/3 sand (or grit) and 1/3 clay or loam, that we find plenty in our garden and surrounding.
I guess you can get the loam in any garden center, but perhaps also around your home !?
Then twice a year I feed it some organic (cow) fertilizer.
