Take as a model the creations left to us by the famous men of old and, considering the suggestions of the owner of the house (where the garden is to be made), one must create, exercising one's own aesthetic senses

That was absolutely one of our inspirations for this garden-element.
At the time of our design it could not be found on the Internet. I think we first saw it in Japanese Gardens by Günter Nitschke.

I first saw Daichi-ji in Teiji Itoh's excellent work, [url=https://www.amazon.com/Gardens-Japan-Teiji-Itoh/dp/0870116487]The Gardens of Japan[/url]; mine is an older version but the new one seems to feature that very hedge on the cover

I am very happy to see your reference to the men of old (and [url=https://unjobs.org/authors/gunter-nitschke]Nitschke's excellent book[/url], another personal favorite. ). There have been attempts in this country to devolve Japanese gardens away from the core traditions that began the form, in favor of post-Meiji stylings devoid of the deeper meanings of the tradition. Marc Keane's and Jiro Takei's outstanding translation of the[url=https://www.mpkeane.com/sakuteiki.html]Sakuteiki[/url]is an amazing window into far gone history to grasp Japanese gardening in it's infancy and glimpse the inherent thinking of the ishi tate so and kaware mono, the earliest niwashis. I find it silly to ignore the inherent teachings of this ancient book, or any of the old traditions that guide Japanese gardening, in favor of stylized caricatures, devoid of spiritual content. I find all gardening to be spiritual in nature, but none more so than Japanese gardening, and I am always happy to make the aquaintance of like minds. Like HG said I am happy for you and humbled to know both of you a little better now. Its been my dream to one day make a garden like I see in my dreams. A moss garden and botanical garden combined (sometimes on a space colony). Maybe we should begin a project like that soon. maybe next year.
I think the garden you built is divine but where are the medicinal herbs? Just kidding that is my dream not your problem but you need some ginsing roots or go ji berries. maybe cherries. or plumbs. . . I really need to go there with a friend and meet you.

Separated from the "divine" Main-garden compartment but integrated into the garden as a whole, we have (more or less) fit in a Herb-garden in the "Left-compartment" (look at the bottom in [url]https://www.zen-garden.org/html/page_compleft.htm[/url] ).

Thanks to GoogleEarth we now have an additional "virtual tour" of our frond garden. Really great.

The full-screen is fantastic. Just take your time to learn to navigate but you can really walk in our street and look around. This was taken in 2009 around this time of the year and the garden was in good shape (better than it is now with this tough winter we had).
