Pond Pump

Hi everyone,

Can someone give me some advice on pond pumps. We have a large pond that is 23 feet long, 6 feet wide and 4 feet deep. It has plenty of oxygenating weeds, and has a number of border plants, mainly Irises.
We also plan to introduce goldfish as well. We originally wanted Koi but they eat everything in sight and harder to look after (e.g. special pumps & filters, oxygenating pumps, etc).

The pump we are thinking of buying in the future is the Hozelock Easyclear 9000. Would this be powerful enough? There are no streams or waterfalls to allow for.

At the moment it is just a wildlife pond with 6 billion frogspawn eagerly waiting to hatch and cause mayhem, although I must say they half keep the slug population down nicely!

I avoid math if at all possible, so can only offer this...

Oh, all right...so 3444 gallons= 15170.42 liters and the Hozelock is good for 9000...

Which all begs the question; are you going for fish? In which case the answer is...more pump. Does Hozelock make a 15000?

Yes they do...

Just got that much harder to run it by the missus, though. Sorry, mate...
