Zoo director goes around capturing Small Asian Hornet and Giant Asian Hornet queens from an African native tree that oozes sap near the Giraffe enclosure to keep visitors safe.

They joke that it’s like catching Pokémon (“Spear” is Japanese pokémon name for “Beedrill”)



Very mild-mannered director said the hornets are just going about their lives and won’t bother you as long as you don’t (accidentally) bother them.

…They finish by saying he has “special training”, don’t try this at home.
