The Insect files :p

These guys are so cool! They seem smart to me. lol
I found this guy on my shovel and moved it over to my artichoke plant (had aphids on it) and as I was doing this its head was moving like it was checking out its surrounding. Pretty neat. Never have seem then in this color before. I always assumed prey mantis were green only. *shrugs*

I found this caterpillar on my bell pepper plant. Anyone have any idea what kind it is? what about what butterfly it turns into?

I thought it might be an albino Mantis, but no they molt several times in their lives. Do you see them often? I've seen them maybe twice in my life.

Cutworms are usually found near the roots, but some can climb the plants and chew. It might be something else though.

We have preying mantises hatch out in our yard every year, so we see them a lot. I have seen the egg cases, the teeny baby mantis, and all different sizes of them up to huge. But I have never managed to see them in transition like that! Way cool!

I think that's a cutworm too -- the climbing cutworm. They will drill holes in your peppers and tomatoes (the fruits) so if you see it again, I recommend you get rid of it -- put it in your birdfeeder

I keep posting this link  https://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=pierson&book=night&story=lazy
I think this story is about the ground cutworms though.
