These guys are so cool! They seem smart to me. lol
I found this guy on my shovel and moved it over to my artichoke plant (had aphids on it) and as I was doing this its head was moving like it was checking out its surrounding. Pretty neat. Never have seem then in this color before. I always assumed prey mantis were green only. *shrugs*

I think that's a cutworm too -- the climbing cutworm. They will drill holes in your peppers and tomatoes (the fruits) so if you see it again, I recommend you get rid of it -- put it in your birdfeeder
