Crape Myrtle

I have read alot about suckers and that they should be removed. My question is why? Won't they just grow to be another tree?

I want my trees to grow tall with a large canopy. If I cut away the suckers will that help with them growing tall?

Thanks for the assistance.

I think the biggest reason you want to get rid of them is because they compete with your tree for nutrients. If you want a tall, fast growing tree you want all the nutrients to be going to your established tree, not the sucker.
