Possible to Grow Tree from Cuttings?

is it possible? my friend has a flowering tree in her yard, not sure what it is, but I have tried to take a cutting off of it three times now and they have all faied to root. the tree has the most beautiful orange blooms. any help or ideas??

Cuttings must be dipped in rooting hormone and be kept moist, possibly a bag over the top of the plants. Some plants root better at different times of the season so try to find out what variety it is.

I did try with rooting hormone, I tried just sticking it in water and tried soil. I will post a picture so maybe someone can tell me what it is
